Oktoberfest Reston Offers Three Days of Food, Fun, Music

Kids' Pumpkin Dash and carnival rides among the family entertainment.

Oktoberfest Reston begins Friday with a little something for everyone.

The annual event, presented by the bills itself as "Three Days of Fall Fun" at the Reston Town Center.

Oktoberfest starts Friday from 3 to 11 p.m. Weekend hours are Saturday, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday, noon to 7 p.m.

Some of the highlights:

* Live music in the pavillion, including pop acts and a traditional German band. For a complete list of entertainers, click here.

* A carnival. Rides and games will be located in the surface parking lot at Freedom Drive and Fountain Drive. For more carnival info and to purchase all-you-can-ride wristbands, click here.

* Food and drink, of course. Some of Reston Town Center's best restuaurants will have food booths at Oktoberfest. And naturally, there will be beer. Among the varieties being poured: Dominion Oktoberfest, Red Hook, Late Harvest and Starr Hill Festive. To read more about food tickets, click here.

* Organizers can still use volunteers and welcome both individuals and companies. To help out, fill out a form here.

* The Anthem Great Pumpkin 5K and Kids Pumpkin Dash take place Saturday morning. The 5K begins at 8:30 a.m. Online registration is closed, but participants can still register Thursday and Friday at the Reston YMCA or at the race until 8am on Saturday.

The kids' race is  for ages 4 to 10. Entry is free, and children are encoruaged to run in their Halloween costumes.

Admission to Oktoberfest Reston is free of charge, but Oktoberfest tickets and Carnival tickets are necessary to buy food or ride rides.


Oktoberfest tickets are $1 per ticket or $20 for a sheet of 24 tickets. Food items range from one -five tickets. Tickets will be sold on site.

Carnival tickets are $1 per ticket or $20 for 24 tickets. Each rides range take three to five tickets. Carnival tickets will be sold at the carnival. All you can ride wristbands are on sale for $20 online ($25 if purchased at the event) for Saturday and can be used from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
