Dulles, Reagan Airports Finally Offer Free WiFi

Terminals now connected

At last, travelers at Washington-area airports can now kill time in the 21st Centiry.

Wireless internet service is now free at Dulles International Airport and Reagan National Airport, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority announced this week.

Customers can connect from their wireless laptops and mobile devices for free. Customers used to be charged a fee to use wireless internet service at the airports if they did not subscribe to a wireless internet carrier. All users can access the service for free now. Such free service has long been available at other major and not to major airports.

At Dulles, customers should connect to “Dulles Airport Complimentary Wifi,” and at Reagan Airport they could connect to “Reagan National Complimentary Wifi.” After selecting a network, users will see a landing page where they must click to accept the terms of service.

MWAA said this landing page may include pop-up advertisements in the future. Users can also continue to connect to a specific provider for paid connectivity.

MWAA says the airport’s WiFi equipment was originally activated in 2007 using wireless carriers. At customer suggestion, MWAA recently pursued agreements with wireless carriers to offer WiFi services for free.
