Silver Line Express Bus Service Begins July 26

New Direct Service Will Connect Dulles International Airport to Metro's Silver Line

Release, Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority:

When Metrorail’s Silver Line opens its doors to passengers on July 26, a new bus connection will whisk passengers nonstop between the rail line and Washington Dulles International Airport. The Silver Line Express bus from Metrorail’s Wiehle-Reston East station will replace the existing Washington Flyer Coach service from the Orange Line’s West Falls Church station. Passenger amenities will include free Wi-Fi, spacious luggage storage, reduced fares, brand-new buses and front door service at the airport.

Fares on the Silver Line Express will be just $5 each way, payable with cash or credit card. When combined with Metrorail fares, a trip from anywhere in the Metrorail system to or from Dulles will cost $11 or less. The Silver Line Express will provide passengers with a direct, speedy connection to Dulles Airport, with buses operating every 15 minutes during weekday peak hours and every 20 minutes off-peak.

The Washington Flyer Coach served 14,000 passengers per month last year. Four newly purchasedbuses will make up the Silver Line Express fleet. Each bus seats 29 passengers with additional standing room for 14.
