Where Did the Hunters Woods' Parking Go?

Section of lot temporarily closed for now, but will provide more accessible parking spots when it is completed.

A portion of the parking lot at Hunters Woods Village Center will be off-limits as it undergoes renovation for about the next eight weeks.

The center will lose current parking arrangement on the side of the lot closest to Ledo's Dairy Queen and Reston Community Center.

Under its current configuration, the parking lot is separated from the stores' doors by a pull-up lane. The new layout will feature more ADA-accessible parking directly in front of the stores.

Work will be ongoing five days a week until its completion sometime in May, said Reston Community Center staffers.

Ken Fredgren of the Reston Accessibility Committee says he has been in communication with the center's owners, Edens & Avant, for over a year about improving parking there.

"Working with [Edens] has been a delight," he said.  "Development Manager Reynolds Allen exemplifies the relationship RAC envisions when we say that our mission is 'Partnering throughout the greater Reston community to improve access for persons with mobility impairments.' "
