What's Up With That?

Community Canteen's makeover.

Recent visitors to , a relatively new entry into Reston Town Center's food options, may have noticed that there is construction going on in the compact breakfast-and-lunch spot.

Remodeling so soon? More like reconfiguring says, Lee Patton, divisional supervisor for Lettuce Entertain You, the parent company of Community Canteen.

The store, which opened in September of 2009, is constructing a counter along a wall of the space where booth seating was formerly located. Then it will move the bakery and coffee selections to that place and add a custom sandwich ordering spot along the current counter. This will help lines move better during the restaurant's busiest times.

"As it is now, when you come in the morning and you want coffee, you have to stand in line with people getting omelets," says Patton. "We want to take our coffee and pastry to the next level, and also make it as quick as possible for people to get their coffee in the morning."

The work is expected to be completed by March 26.
