Now Open at North Point: sweetFrog

Wall of yogurt a popular spot on opening day.

Reston's first sweetFrog premium frozen yogurt store opened its doors on Saturday at North Point Village Center.

The national franchise has several nearby locations - including Fairfax and Alexandria - but North Point owner Roula Bordcosh says she thought the location at 1472 North Point Village Center was an ideal spot.

The crowd lining up to use the wall of yogurt Saturday seemed to agree.

SweetFrog is a self-service operation where visitors pay the weight of the cup. Customers grab a cup, get the flavors they like (about 8 to 10 on any given day) from wall dispensers and then choose toppings for endless combinations.

Cake batter yogurt with powdered donuts and kiwi, anyone? How about mint and mango with Oreos, peanut butter sauce and white chocolate chips?

SweetFrog is open 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 9 p.m. on Sunday.

This place is AWESOME! Of the many great (and the some not-so-great) ideas vetted here on Patch a few weeks ago; I believe that a healthy yogurt shop pretty much fits the bill as best as possible! The owner is incredibly friendly and the atmosphere is young and vibrant. They have several different flavors of yogurt (sold by the ounce, not by the container) and so many toppings that you will likely create a line just by pausing to look at them all.

As to "nearby locations," yes, including Sterling, off Dranrsville Road.
