Life Time Athletic Opens Its Doors in Reston

Luxury club has more than 100,000 square feet of equipment and amenities.

Life Time Athletic opened its doors in Reston on Thursday, showing Founders members the huge variety of activities and amenities it is bringing to town in its 114,000-square-foot facility. 

New patrons of the club at 1757 Business Center Dr. were greeted by enthusiastic staffers as they got a first look at the facility. Hunter Mill Supervisor Cathy Hudgins, Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Mark Ingrao and Del. Ken Plum were on hand to welcome Life Time and help cut the ceremonial ribbons.

"It really has the 'wow' factor,' said Adina Short of Herndon as she checked out the fitness area. 

"We're pretty excited," said Linda Hall of Vienna, who added she return Friday to work out.

Life Time Athletic Reston is a luxury "diamond" club - one of only 13 nationwide - so it also has luxury membership fees, which start at $140 for an individual. Life Time also brought about 300 jobs to Reston.

Among the facility features:

* About 400 pieces of  cardiovascular and resistance training equipment; personalized weight Loss programs; group fitness programs; Pilates, cycle and LifePower Yoga studios; two full-size basketball courts; and large outdoor and indoor pool areas with two-story outdoor waterslides, zero-depth-entry recreation pools, lap pools and children’s interactive play areas, two whirlpools; a Life Cafe and full spa services.

There is also a Life Time Kids Academy, a membership program for kids ages 3-11 that gives access to kids activities, as well as a child center featuring a computer center, children’s activity areas and separate infant playroom.

"We're absolutely excited to open our doors and let people know we are here," said Miklos Horvath, the club's general manager.
