Are You Ready For Some Football Viewing?

Where to score big all over town with giant flat-screens, food specials.

It's football season!

So now that you know what you'll be doing on Sundays and Monday nights, the only question is where.

There's certainly nothing wrong with your own living room, given its highly convenient location a few steps from your fridge.  But sometimes you just want to cheer, curse and commiserate with a larger group of like-minded folk. Or perhaps you're one of the many transplants to Reston, and, as such, your primary allegiance lies with a team whose game is not regularly broadcast in this market.

For all those occasions, be glad you live here now. There are no shortage of places to watch the big game. Here are a couple of hot football-watching spots:

Santini's New York Style Deli is home of a 72-inch TV, plus a couple more. It's typically a deli and pizza place, except on football weekends, when it's the second home for football fans. And yes, you can watch the Redskins, even if the posters on the walls seem more suited to fans of the Jets and the Giants.

Wings, anyone? They're only 49 cents on Monday nights at the Buffalo Wing Factory. On Sundays, the restaurant features $5.99 sliders. TVs all over the place, and they won't kick you out on Monday nights until the game is over.

Kalypso's Sports Tavern welcomes fans of every stripe, but it considers itself a Redskins' bar at heart. The restaurant features 10 TVs, with eight in the bar area and two in the lounge. On football days, it offers a free chips and salsa buffet, half-price burgers, 50-cent wings and further discounts on several other appetizers. Night game runs well into overtime? No problem. Kalypso's is always open until 2 a.m.

Champp's at Plaza America has several large screen TVs, plus some smaller ones, and offers half-price appetizers after 4 p.m., including on football days. In addition, you can get half-price burgers on Mondays. They're open till 1 a.m.

If you tell staff at the door of  The American Tap Room  who you root for, they will direct you to the appropriate TV. It could be the 80-incher at the bar, or any of the 42-inchers scattered around the place. Open until 2 a.m., the restaurant has a special "Game Time" menu (although you can order from any menu) on Sundays and Monday nights.
