The Reston Community Orchestra presented their eighth annual musical salute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Saturday, Jan. 18 at the Reston Community Center.

An integral part of Reston’s weekend of celebration and remembrance, the concert featured the works of African-American composers, as well as works inspired by the civil rights movement for which Dr. King gave his life.

The orchestra's next performance will be "Innovation! A Tribute to Robert Simon," which will be Sunday, March 16 at 4 p.m. at the Reston Community Center.

Featuring marimba soloist Rebecca Kite, the show aims to demonstrate "music as progressive and inventive as the community we share."
