Viewers of Fox's American Idol saw Nate Tao, a 24-year-old singer from Reston, get the golden ticket to Hollywood on Thursday night.
Tao told the judges an interesting backstory - both of his parents are deaf.
Tao, who attended Herndon High School and is a 2010 graduate of Ithaca College, auditioned for the show in Oklahoma City last summer. He is now based in Los Angeles.
