Reston Flutist Daniels Ready for New Role

South Lakes graduate will play in three upcoming performances at Tanglewood this summer.

graduate Pamela Daniels is preparing for performances at Tanglewood Music Center in Lenox, MA, this month.

Daniels, a flutist, will take play in the Tanglewood on Parade Concert on Tuesday, as well as in TMC concerts on Aug. 13 and 19.

Tanglewood is the summer home of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. It is also the Boston Symphony Orchestra's summer academy for advanced musical study for emerging professional musicians. Daniels is a summer Fellow at Tanglewood.

Daniels is a graduate of the Eastman School of Music and the New England Conservatory. She has been teaching in Northern Virginia, but in September she will be joining the Cape Cod Symphony as acting principal flute.

In 2011 Daniels won the Boston Woodwind Society’s Flute Merit Award and New England Conservatory’s Winds, Brass, and Percussion Concerto Competition. She has also performed as principal flute for the Inscape Chamber Orchestra and section flute with the Boston Philharmonic and Neoponsit Valley Philharmonic Orchestra.

Other festivals she has attended include the Music Academy of the West, National Orchestral Institute and Aspen Music Festival and School.
