It's Showtime for Reston Theater Productions

Reston is the place to be for classic musicals this weekend.

If you are a patron of the arts, Reston is a great place to be this weekend.
Three plays will have opening nights Thursday and Friday.

spring musical, West Side Story, debuts Thursday at 7 p.m. A huge cast will tell the 1950s-take on Romeo and Juliet set to Leonard Bernstein and Stephen Sondheim's music.

The show runs Thursday, April 26, Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28 at 7 p.m. There will also be performances Thursday, May 3, Friday, May 4 and Saturday, May 5 at 7 p.m.

Across the parking lot at students will perform Rodgers and Hammerstein's Oklahoma! Performances are Thursday, April 26, Friday, April 27 and Saturday, April 28.

At CenterStage, the Reston Community Players present August: Osage County. Opening night is Friday, April 27, and the show will run Fridays and Saturdays through mid-May. Click here for curtain times and ticket info.

The show, about a damaged Oklahoma family, was the winner of the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. It is recommended for mature audiences.

will also open a new exhibition, PLAY, this weekend. 

PLAY features six artists linked by imagination, fine craftsmanship, and a childlike engagement with materials and concepts. Artists Ed Bisese, Calder Brannock, Dickson Carroll, Jacqueline Levine, Marco Rando, and Ming-Yi Sung Zaleski draw from sources as divergent as amusement parks, polar exploration, and Buddhist sand painting to celebrate the role of play in fostering innovation in contemporary visual art.
