Public Art Film Series

The Reston Community Center, in collaboration with the Initiative for Public Art – Reston (IPAR), is screening award-winning films this fall about exceptional public art projects.

Visually stimulating and thought provoking, the films in the series are being shown to foster a community conversation about public art and the environment, and architecture and memorial spaces as IPAR moves forward with projects.

September's Movie is Rivers and Tides (2004)
This astonishing documentary from Thomas Riedelsheimer shadows renowned sculptor Andy Goldsworthy as he creates works of art with ice, driftwood, leaves, stone, dirt and snow in open fields, beaches, rivers, creeks and forests. With each new creation, he carefully studies the energetic flow and transitory nature of his work. The film won the Golden Gate Award Grand Prize for Best Documentary at the 2003 San Francisco International Film Festival.
