The road to American Idol stardom continues for at least one more day for for Reston's Nate Tao .
Tao, the 24-year-old graduate of Herndon High School, made it through part one of a two-part Hollywood Week on American Idol last night.
There was not much screen time for Tao on Wednesday, but he and his black-jeans-and-leather-jacket clad foursome sailed through the group sing by belting Some Kind of Wonderful. They all were picked to move on to the finals of Hollywood Week, which will air Thursday at 8 p.m.
Thursday's show will narrow the field of men to the Top 20 and a spot to sing live on Idol.
Tao tried out for the show last summer in Oklahoma City. He is a 2010 graduate of Ithaca College and a sign language teacher - and aspiring singer, of course - in Los Angeles.
Last week's audition show featured extra airtime for Tao, who has an inspiring backstory - both his parents are deaf. After singing Stevie Wonder's For Once In My Life, Tao got a unanimous "You're Going to Hollywood!" from Idol judges Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, Nikki Minaj and Mariah Carey.
