Reston woke up to a thick blanket of snow Thursday morning after a snowstorm that started Wednesday night that brought 13.4 inches to Reston, according to snow totals posted Thursday morning by the National Weather Service.

The forecast for Thursday in Reston is for snow, freezing rain, and sleet. High near 32. North wind around 16 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90 percent. Little or no ice accumulation expected. Total daytime snow and sleet accumulation of 3 to 7 inches possible.

Thursday night forecast is for snow, mainly before 3 am. Low around 25. Blustery, with a west wind 14 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 32 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Winter Storm Warning is in effect until 3 p.m. Thursday for Reston.

Winter Weather Advisory is in effect until 1 a.m. Friday for Reston.

Friday is expected to be sunny with a high of 39 degrees.
