When Is The First Day of Spring 2014? (Soon, Believe It Or Not)
Weather aside, the calendar says spring is near.
You might not know it from the snow and ice that covered roadways and closed government offices and schools Monday, but the first day of spring 2014 is Thursday, March 20.
So, hang in there.
But keep the gloves at hand. Spring doesn't exactly mean this long, dreadful winter is over, at least as far as the weather is concerned. While the highs in Northern Virginia are forecast for the upper 50s on Thursday — and the lower 60s in Fredericksburg — low temperatures are expected to drop below freezing again next weekend.
