Weekend Planner, Reston Edition

Concert, farmers market and two big yard sales

Where/When? Herndon Town Green on Friday, May 6 from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.

Why Go? A fun evening under the stars with good music, good food and great people. This year’s event is launched with “The Reagan Years”, an 80’s tribute band. Musical selections, although diverse in style, all share the "common thread" of success during the 80's decade.

Where/When? on Friday, May 6 and Saturday, May 7 at 8 p.m. Sunday, May 8 at 2:30 p.m.

Why Go? For their final production of the 2010-2011 season, the Reston Community Players present the (very) funny Moonlight and Magnolias.and then plan to catch one of the performances this weekend.

Pricing? $18 for adults, $15 for students or seniors

Where/When? Lake Anne Plaza on Saturday, May 7 from 8 a.m. to  12 p.m. (continuing on Saturdays through October). 

Why Go? Not only a great place for farm fresh fruits, veggies, bread, dairy and more – but also a craft market to browse (think Mother’s Day!)

Pricing? Varies

Where/When?  Both sales on Saturday, May 7.  from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and   from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Why Go? Support two great groups and see what kind of bargains/treasures you may find.

Common Ground Child Care Center, a non-profit organization in Reston will be holding a including a yard sale, 50/50 raffle, and a high capacity shred truck.

Pricing? Varies; Common Ground asks for a donation of $20, which will allow you to shred whatever documents you wish to bring

Where/When? parking lot on Saturday, May 7 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go? The popular Annual Bicycle Safety Rodeo is a fun way for young cyclists (ages 5 -12) to learn how to be safe while riding. Children will complete 8 safety stations and earn their bicyclist’s license. (Course takes about 20 minutes to complete)  Children must bring their own bicycles and helmets.

Where/When: Milestoen Communications is sponsoring its 11th annual Hopecam 5K Run/Walk Saturday, May 7 at 8 p.m.  Sunrise Valley and Preston White Drive.

Why Go? The event helps raise money for .

Pricing: $25/runner; $5 for ages 12 and under.
