Weekend Planner - Reston

Summer sendoffs all over the area.

 

Where/When? The W&OD Trail on Saturday, Sept. 3 starting at 7:30 a.m.

Why Go? This event has three parts. First a massive clean-up effort, including the Reston section of the trail. Come and lend a hand between 7:30 a.m. and 10 a.m. Second,  at 11 a.m., The Great Skedadle begins. From one point in Ashburn )  bikers will head west for a 5 or 10 mile trip and runners and walkers will head east for a 5K effort.  Finally, the celebration! Music, entertainment and food for everyone from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Farmwell Station Middle School.

Skype Tasting at The Wine Cabinet

Where/When? at North Point Village Center on Saturday, Sept. 3 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Why Go? Unique way to learn about wines and meet the winemakers – all the way in Verona, Italy.  Join Winemaker and Owner Sisto Tesari via SKYPE to discuss the current vintages, the progress of harvest and the outlook for the next year.

Where/When?  (Herndon) on Sunday, Sept. 4 at 8 p.m.

Why Go? ArtSpace welcomes Woodenhead, the legendary New Orleans electric instrument band with Jimmy Robertson.  to their gallery.

Pricing? $15 at the door, $10 in advance.

 

Where/When?  on Monday, Sept. 5 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Why Go?  Food (and lots of it), wine (from over a dozen wineries), beer (microbreweries are well-represented) and entertainment (including Willie Nile, one of four main stage acts) mean you can end your summer on a sensational note.

Pricing? $15 (beer and wine tasting); $8 (no alcohol admission)

 

Where/When? on Monday, Sept. 5 from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why Go? Mon Ami Gabi extends the weekend with their Labor Day brunch. The menu selections will make your mouth water. And Mon Ami Gabi is making the last day of summer a little sweeter. When you have brunch on Labor Day, they will give you a gift card equal to the price of your meal (less taxes and gratuities) to use sometime during the Fall.
