Reston's Jae Canetti Makes it to Semi-Finals in National Spelling Bee

Jae is a student at Hunters Woods Elementary in Reston.

Jae Canetti has made it to the semi-finals, in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, officials announced Wednesday.

Jae, 12, is a 6th-grader at Hunters Woods Elementary. This will be his second time in the semi-finals; it is his third time at the spelling bee.

On Wednesday, Jae correctly spelled the word "edaphon" (animal and plant life present in soils).

Jae is one of up to 50 semifinalists.
