Reston Patch Has a New Editor

I'm anxious to hear more of your stories — and tell a lot of my own.

By Alex McVeigh

Hello, Reston. My name is Alex McVeigh, and I’m the new editor of Reston Patch.

I’ve covered this community, among others, for more than three years, and I’m looking forward to exploring Reston even more, from the hustle and bustle of Reston Town Center to the quiet tranquility of its lakes and paths.

I’ve lived in Reston and got married in Reston, and my experience has given me great insight to the community’s past, present and future, as well as its unique set of founding principles that bind residents to this day.

Reston will be experiencing big things in 2014: its own 50th birthday, the 100th birthday of its founder, Robert Simon, the opening of the Wiehle-Reston East Station and the second phase of the Reston Master Plan Special Study Task force.

And then there’s the Silver Line.

I’m excited about covering these events, as well as others that are sure to come, and I hope you won’t be shy about bringing things to my attention.

During my time covering Reston, I’ve been fortunate enough to meet many of you in the community, and I look forward to meeting even more.

Please don’t hesitate to contact me with questions, comments, suggestions, story ideas or submissions of your own.

I can be reached at alex.mcveigh@patch.com, at 703-554-5023, on Facebook, on Twitter @RestonPatch and by well-timed smoke signals in favorable wind conditions.

Thanks for reading, and I look forward to working with you.
