Reston Festival: Street Fair and Walk Through Reston History

Distinctive Reston political, historical flair at weekend event.

Thousands of people strolled throughSaturday and Sunday at the annual Reston Festival.

The street fair had the usual crafts and food, and lots of hands-on activities for the kids.

But this is also an event that represents Reston, so staffer and volunteers from Reston's agencies were out en masse.

There was a "How Well Do You Know Reston?" game at the booth, where RA directors and staffers - wearing tie-dye, in keeping with the "Reston Through The Decades" theme - tried to stump players with a book full of questions about the area.

At table, volunteers signed up more volunteers to help the and other Reston Interfaith programs.

At the Reston Citizens Association table, residents could cast their vote for new officers, including a new president. The votes will be tallied on Tuesday.

Also with a presence, the Dulles Corridor Metrorail Project, the Reston Museum, and political candidates Spike Williams (County Board of Supervisors Chair), Ken Plum (Virginia House), Janet Howell (Virginia Senate).
