This is not Nazi Germany and there are no "conquered peoples" here. Get over it already. We are nation of laws and not men . Take the supreme court's decision in the Heller case under advisement and recognize the opportunity for reasonable regulation of firearms, their manfacturers, sellers and owners, even while acknowleding the individual's right to bear arms. Put the overheated, ridiculous rhetoric aside.

Why must your dystopian future create a dystopian present for the rest of us?

Hitler never introduced gun control, at least not domestically. In fact, people loved Adolf and would have done anything to protect "mein Fuehrer". Even though assassination attempts were carried out, most of those were planned and foiled by insiders. Insiders had easy access to weapons as they were cleared by intelligence and continously monitored. It was a paranoid regime with plenty of infighting. Now, when I hear about the guns and how we should amass them to prevent a corrupt government from taking over it appears that the use of force is largely determined by how strong of a following the gun lobby can muster over the next election cycle. A scary thought... dirty shirts walking the streets, fighting bare fists and showing off their weapons... under the pretext that state and local is out of control and that the feds have turned into a tyrant government. A reversal of fortune for those that believe in America, freedom, and prosperity for all. A sad future for our children is what you believe in Joe&company, and you should be ashamed of yourself. Sad man...

Not everyone has the same idea of what "reasonable" regulation is. When you guys say things like "reasonable" and "common sense" you mean make all guns illegal for law abiding citizens, except for those that look like they would be used for hunting. We are a nation of laws; unfortunately there are many out there that don't follow these laws. You think if they make a new law that "scary" looking guns are now illegal, a gang-banger is going to say "oh wait, I can't have this, it's illegal"?

Violence is a people problem. A firearm is a tool just like a automobile, an airplane (oh yeah, weren't they used as weapons a few years ago!). In the wrong hands tools can be very dangerous. John Doe is spot on. I don't trust any government. "What does it matter that we have four dead Americans"? Yeah, the government has my back. No I have my back.
