National Weather Service Issues Freezing Rain Advisory for Northern Virginia

Advisory begins Tuesday at 7 p.m.

The National Weather Service on Tuesday morning issued a Freezing Rain Advisory for Northern Virginia.

The advisory is in effect beginning Tuesday at 7 p.m. and continues until Wednesday at 6 a.m.

The NWS forecasts an accumulation of one-tenth to 1 inch of ice. Freezing rain will begin Tuesday night and continue overnight, switching over to rain Wednesday morning.

Temperatures will be near 30 degrees tonight, rising into the lower 30s late tonight. Temps will rise above freezing Wednesday morning.

Untreated roads and sidewalks will become slippery from ice. Travel might be difficult. Be prepared for slippery roads and use caution while driving.
