LIVE WINTER STORM TITAN UPDATES: Snow Exits, Frigid Temps Begin

A live blog on the latest conditions, closings and general misery in Virginia and DC caused by yet another round of winter weather.

The snow, as expected, arrived, left, arrived again and left again. Now, it's on to some ridiculously cold temperatures overnight and into Tuesday. And a lot of school kids are getting to praying for another day off on Tuesday. 

Prince William County answered the prayers first, announcing school's out for another day Tuesday.

Road conditions are treacherous with temperatures well below freezing — and barely above zero with the windchill factored.

Monday, 5:43 p.m.

Icy Road Conditions Expected Overnight. VDOT crews will apply sand for traction, and will start to clear subdivisions Monday evening.

Monday, 5:12 p.m.

They're not alone: The City of Manassas was rethinking the snow clearing budget after nearly doubling what it had planned to spend — and that was before Monday's storm.

Honey, put another log on the fire: The snow has moved east but the forecast calls for single-digit temperatures into Tuesday.

And it begins: Prince William County Schools closed Tuesday.

Don't plan on catching a bus anytime soon. All Fairfax Connector bus service has been suspended for the rest of the day on Monday. They will announce tomorrow’s service level this evening.

As long as snow is falling, snow plows will be focused on the interstate and main roadways, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

Police ActivityHundreds of Crashes, Nearly 1,000 Calls to State Police from weather.

Three runways were open at Dulles International Airport, but few flights were operating. All runways were closed at Reagan National Airport, but terminal facilities and a few concessions were open. More info.

Monday, 8:58 a.m.

The Virginia Department of Transportation has road condition cameras and locators for the nearest snow plow (which can include details about the truck and the width of the plow).

Monday, 7:50 a.m.

As of 7:30 a.m., Dominion Power had reports of just over 900 customers without power, most of them in Fauguier County along Interstate 66. NOVEC was reporting no power outages. Outage maps and tips from the Virginia Department of Emergency Management.

Monday, 7:34 a.m.

More Snow: The rain came as expected and so did the ice. Now, it's snow time. The National Weather Service now says expect 5 to 8 inches before the precipitation ends late this afternoon.

Authorities are asking again that unless you absolutely need to be on the roads, to stay off the roads. With a windchill temperature of a few degrees above zero. ice is everywhere.

We're guessing some students at GMU will like the idea of sleeping in Monday: George Mason University administrative offices are closed and classes cancelled Monday, March 3, due to inclement weather.

Same with the students at NOVA
, where day and evening classes and activities are canceled Monday, March 3, due to bad weather. Admin offices closed also.

Falls Church City Public Schools are closed on Monday.

The City of Falls Church has declared a Snow Emergency beginning Monday at 6 a.m.

Fairfax County Parks All park facilities are closed, and all programs, classes, events and meetings canceled

LATEST FORECAST: Get your shovels ready, the National Weather Service has come out with new predictions for the amount of snow the area will get Monday. For most of Northern Virginia, it looks like 6-8 inches of snow. Take a look at the NWS map here.

AND...IT BEGINS: The rain portion, that is. A light rain's sprinkling over Northern Virginia. Next up: Sleet, meaning ice can't be far behind. Then, snow.
