July 4: Catch Reston Fireworks at Lake Fairfax

Fireworks show starts at 9:15 p.m. - but get there early for a good spot.

Who is ready for Fourth of July fun?

Plan on attending the annual Fourth of July Festivities at Lake Fairfax Park in Reston.

The festival is sponsored by Fairfax County. Here are the details:

* Park grounds open at 7 a.m. for picnics, sports, etc. Park admission is free.

* The Water Mine will be open 10 a.m.-8 p.m., but generally hits capacity very early so plan accordingly, county officials said. Click here for Water Mine admission prices and other details.

* There will be vendors near the park main office offering a variety of foods  and frozen treats.

* The carousel and marina will be available from 11 a.m. -6 p.m.

*There is a puppet show from 6 p.m.-8 p.m. near the carousel.

Parking attendants will be directing traffic throughout the park. When you enter the park, please follow the directions of the parking staff.

The fireworks show will begin at approximately 9:15 p.m. The fireworks are shot off over the lake so the view can be seen from almost any portion of the park.
