Hunkering Down: Your News and Photos

The worst of Hurricane Sandy is yet to come, but everyone is advised to stay home. Share your photos of riding the storm out on Patch.

Rain has been falling steadily in Reston and Herndon since Sunday evening. The worst of Hurricane Sandy is expected to hit our area later on Monday.

As of mid-day Monday, it was a lot of hunkering down. Schools are closed, as is the county and federal government. Many stores are shuttered, though the several Reston-area Starbucks and some restaurants appear open for now. Metro bus and rail service is shut down, and most flights from Washington-area airports are delayed or canceled.

To report downed trees on Reston Association property, please call the RA main number (703-435-6530) or e-mail Central Services at CSFstaff@reston.org
