Herndon Student Has A Hit With Rebecca Black Parody

YouTube video has nearly 1.5 million views.

In the last two weeks, teen singer Rebecca Black has become a household name - or at least an Internet name - with her cringeworthy pop single Friday.


It's the video that spawned countless insults and dozens of parodies. One of the most popular parodies was made by Herndon High School junior Zach Katz has gotten nearly 1.5 million hits on YouTube.

Katz teamed with his friend Jon Duckworth, who lives in Colorado, to do a send up of Black's video. Katz's video has gotten lots of attention - part of it was shown on The Tonight Show With Jay Leno and on Good Morning America this week.

"People liked it, and they just started showing it," says Katz.

Katz spends a lot of time making YouTube videos - a lot of parodies of songs and other funny - and many of the videos have tens of thousands of views. But nothing like the Black parody.

Katz is the dark-haired teen in the opening sequence (as well as other scenes) in the video. Herndon student Omar Segovia is behind the camera. Some of the outdoor scenes were filmed on Katz's Herndon cul-de-sac.

Katz is considering studying film in college. He is already something of a new media prodigy. His Twitter feed @OMGidothistoo has 192,820 followers, earning Katz a nomination for Twitter's Shorty Awards (Weird Division).
