Groundhog Day, Reston Style
There has not even been six weeks of winter yet. How long till we can hit the pools?
It's Feb. 2 - Happy Groundhog Day!
This year, it means you might have to wear a sweater and think about mowing your lawn soon.
While Punxatawney Phil is crawling out of his home in Pennsylvania to look for his shadow and declare whether or not there will be six more weeks of winter, Restonians are still waiting for six weeks total of winter.

Not much snow in 2011-12. Not a single snow day, not even an FCPS two-hour delay. It was 65 degrees in Reston on Feb. 1. Golfers have been on the courses all week. Heck, they have been playing all winter.
It will be in the mid-50s the rest of the week. Not a snowflake in the forecast.

Meanwhile, mascot, Earl the Squirrel, should let us know if he sees his shadow. That will mean 16 weeks until Reston Association pools open.
