Crowded Calendar This Week in Reston

Lots of annual events celebrate Reston and Restonians in mid-April. Will you be there?

There is lots to celebrate this week in Reston. Several major annual events happen in mid-April. Here's a reminder in case you have been meaning to attend any of them:

Reston Association Annual Meeting, 7 p.m. Tuesday, RA Headquarters

All RA members are invited to welcome the new board of directors and hear the outlook for the association.

This is the most glamorous night of the year in Reston as Reston Interfaith and the Greater Reston Chamber of Commerce applaud select citizens for their impact in the community.

Reston founder Robert E. Simon is the gala's honorary chair for the event, which aims to raise nearly half a million for Reston Interfaith. Tickets start at $150. Click here for more info.

Empty Bowls Fundraiser, 5:30 p.m. Friday, Floris United Methodist Church, Herndon

This annual fundraiser by the Giving Circle Of HOPE will benefit Food for others, the largest distributor of free food to the hungry in Northern Virginia.

Pre-event tickets are $20 and tickets at the door will be $25.  This will include a ceramic bowl that you can keep plus soup, bread, a beverage and dessert. All contributions are tax-deductible. Checks should be made out to Food for Others. Click here to purchase tickets.

Come out and wish Reston founder Robert E. Simon a happy 99th birthday. There will be cake, musical entertainment, dedication of commemorative bricks and the annual amazing scavenger hunt.
