Original story:

The snowstorm that was expected to hit in the evening Thursday, Jan. 2 came a bit early, leaving poor driving conditions throughout Reston and the surrounding areas.

Roads such as Wiehle Avenue and Colts Neck Road are extremely treacherous, with larger roads such as Baron Cameron Avenue and Fairfax County Parkway a little bit better.

Several county and Metro buses were stuck earlier in the evening near Inlet Court going north uphill on Wiehle Avenue.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory until 6 a.m., with winds gusting as high as 41 miles per hour. Total snow accumulation could be higher than two inches.

The forecast for Friday, Jan. 3 is low temperatures with a high of 25

According to the Virginia Department of Transportation, Northern Virginia is under a Level 3 mobilization, with Level 5 being the highest.

If the snow fall is more than two inches, visit VDOT Plows to see the status of plowing in Northern Virginia.

Unplowed roads and hazardous conditions can be reported to  novainfo@vdot.virginia.gov, 800-367-7623, or the Hunter Mill District office, 703-478-0283.

Remember:
