Catch Reston's Tao on American Idol Wednesday

Herndon High grad Nate Tao is going to Hollywood! Patch will be following his progress.

Reston native Nate Tao and his inspiring backstory - both his parents are deaf - were featured on last week's American Idol.

After auditioning in Oklahoma City, Tao got an unanimous "You're Going to Hollywood!" from Idol judges Randy Jackson, Keith Urban, Nikki Minaj and Mariah Carey.

Tao, 24, currently lives in Los Angeles, where he is a sign language teacher - he taught Idol host Ryan Secrest the sign for "congratulations" on last week's episode. He is also, of course, an aspiring singer.
