Cameron Glen Health and Rehab Center to Close in 2014

Cameron Glen is the only such facility in Reston.

Cameron Glen Health and Rehab Center will close its doors in early 2014, meaning Reston will lose its only nursing and rehabilitation center.

Inova owned and operated the building until Commonwealth Care of Roanoke assumed operations in October 2010. Inova has retained ownership of the building and property.

Cameron Glen patients and staff will vacate to a newly-constructed, 80,000 square-foot, 150 bed facility being constructed in Sterling, which will be named Potomac Falls Health and Rehabilitation.

"The new facility will be about the same square footage as the old building, but we'll lose 23 beds from the current 173 at Cameron Glen," said Zoie Nikov, administrator at Cameron Glen. "We're sad to leave Reston, but this is the first new long-term health and rehabilitation center built in Virginia in years, so we're looking forward to having a quality facility that matches the quality of care we offer."

Most of the residents will be transferring to the new facility, except for several that need to stay in Fairfax County to access transportation options that aren't available in Loudoun County.

Nikov said they are working with those residents and their families to transfer them to other Fairfax County facilities.

Cameron Glen is expected to close in late March or early April 2014.

Once the building is vacated, Inova said they will work with the county to determine what needs the vacant space can be used for, but as of now there is "nothing set in stone" as far as the building or property's future.
