The year 2013 was an eventful one in Reston, and though your calendars should now say 2014, there's no reason we can't go back and look at some of the most read stories on Reston Patch over the past year. 

Reston Man Drives Up $200,000 Tab for Road Tolls: A Reston resident finally got the bill for months of cruising the toll road without an EZ Pass. Jason Bourcier's $440 bill ballooned to more than $200,000 after late fees and interest, which led to the Virginia Department of Transportation taking him to court. 

Reston Woman Among Navy Yard Shooting Victims: Mary Knight, an accomplished cybersecurity professional, was among the victims killed at the Navy Yard in September. 

Roy Cooley, 91, Found in Lake Thoreau: Reston resident Roy Cooley was found in Lake Thoreau, near his residence, after a search. Police found that the death did not warrant a criminal investigation. 

17-Year-Old Dies From Gunshot Wound: Juan Carlos Godoy, 17, was killed by a gunshot in October. Javier Martinez, 26, was later charged in the death. 

Lakeside Inn Closes After 22 Years: The popular dining spot at South Lakes Village Center closed in October, after a lease agreement could not be reached. 

Sinkhole Slows Traffic: An eight by 10 foot sinkhole opened up on Lawyers Road May 8, slowing traffic and causing detours for several hours. 

Transformer Explosion Snarls Traffic, Cuts Power on Sunset Hills: A transformer exploded in September, causing power outages and delays.
