When the head of the troubled $3 billion project to extend Metro's Silver Line through Tysons Corner resigned, officials with the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority praised him for his work.

Pat Nowakowski is leaving next month to take a job at another transit agency with the Silver Line months behind schedule and tens of millions of dollars over budget.
