Hawaii Wish Trip Comes True For Fairfax Child

Tara, nine, of Fairfax lives with Astrocytoma, a form of inoperable brain cancer.  Her wish is to visit Hawaii, and it came true, courtesy of United Health Foundation and Make-A-Wish®.  Local UnitedHealthcare employees hosted a send-off party for Tara and her family earlier today.  United Health Foundation has adopted this wish as part of its national UnitedHealth Group Wishes program.  According to Tara’s wish granters, she did not waste any time telling them of her wish to visit Hawaii and swim with the dolphins.  When asked why she wanted to go to Hawaii, Tara answered that she thought it was a beautiful place that she would love to see.  She looks forward to swimming with the dolphins, and seeing waterfalls and volcanoes.  Tara and her parents will visit the Big Island of Hawaii.

Since 2007, UnitedHealth Group has funded more than 2,136 wishes through a $7.5 million alliance with Make-A-Wish.  Additionally, UnitedHealth Group employees and the dollar-for-dollar company match have resulted in more than $5.3 million in donations through the company’s annual United Giving Campaign.
