Public Art, Carnival Rides and Gun Laws

Things to know for Friday, Sept. 27.

Calling All Artists - The Reston District Police Station is seeking submissions for public art for its new district station location.

The existing Reston Police Station and Governmental Centerat 12000 Bowman Town Dr. is in the process of being demolished, and a new facility is being built in its place.

Public art is planned for the east side of the new building. The east side of the building was chosen so the art could be seen from the community room, by visitors as they enter the building, and by the public as they walk and drive along the adjacent street, says the Arts Council of Fairfax.

The project is open to professional artists living in the greater Washington DC area. Artists must be over the age of 18, students are eligible to apply only as part of an artist team, which is supervised at all times by a lead professional artist over the age of 18.
