One of the projects that Reston for a Lifetime has been discussing is setting up an Information & Referral Line/Desk to help locals answer questions related to a variety of topics including transportation, eldercare, recreation, aging in place and senior housing options.  Thanks to the efforts of a similar organization that has formed in Mclean, we are getting closer to this becoming a reality.

Approximately a dozen members of Reston for a Lifetime attended training February 1 at the McLean Community Center.

The program was organized by The McLean: A Community for All Ages effort to launching an all-volunteer-operated Information and Resource Desk/phone line, called McLean Senior Source, to be located in the lobby of the McLean Community Center.

Reston for a Lifetime sees the benefit in creating a similar program in our region and working together with the Mclean group to refine delivery and promote the offering on a regional basis.

Please join us this Wednesday, February 13 at Reston Community Center - Hunters Woods, 2 - 4 p.m. to learn more about the plans for this program and meet some members of The McLean: A Community for All Ages initiative! Patricia J. Rohrer, Long Term Care Coordinating Council (LTCCC) Facilitator & Renuka Chander and Courtney Nuzzo from McLean: A Community for All Ages will be speaking about the Mclean Senior Source project that Reston for a Lifetime is planning on replicating.

In addition, we will have several other speakers present:

• Jennifer Robinson, Fairfax County Health Department - speaking about Adult Day Health Services
• Amber Nightingale, AARP - speaking about AARP's community engagement program and ways Reston for a Lifetime might utilize it
• Older Americans Month Event - May 22 -discussion about how Reston for a Lifetime can help get the word out about this years exciting event! Featuring Abigail Trafford former Washington Post journalist and author of My Time: Making the Most of the Bonus Decades After 50
