Fairfax Connector Planning Now for Silver Line

The Fairfax Connector Proposed Dulles Rail Bus Service Plan is available on the Fairfax County website.

This page lists the proposed routes specific to Reston. You can look up the bus routes near your house to see what kind of service is proposed for your area by clicking on the numbers of the bus routes. 

The plan includes the creation of 12 new routes, the restructuring of 20 existing routes and the elimination of six routes. These route changes are proposed, the Fairfax County Department of Transportation is holding six public meetings and an online discussion to hear feedback from us, the public. 

The complete bus service plan will be discussed at each meeting, with special emphasis placed on area service changes for the general vicinity of each meeting location.

The Reston meetings are:

  • Tuesday, Feb. 5: 10 a.m.

What about RIBS? There's no mention of it in the proposals at all, as far as I can find. The proposed routes leave several low-income neighborhoods with next to nothing for bus service, so I'm hopeful there's a plan to continue the RIBS service, and maybe even make some of the one-way loops go both ways?

I was wondering the same thing about RIBS. And the one -way loops going both ways would be such an improvement! I hope that happens too.

Yes, thanks for the info. Not surprised that there are no meetings in south Reston. Wow, the 557 will be packed by the time it reaches us from the Herndon-Monroe P&R. Hope that they thought this one through.
