Will There Be Tolls To Get To Dulles Too?

Consultant's report says that could be one way to help pay for rising costs.

Will drivers  headed to Dulles International Airport have to pay tolls? That is an option that the Metropolitan Washington Ariports Authority is reportedly investigating to help pay for mounting road costs and the rising price tag of Metro's Silver Line.

The Silver Line estimates keep rising. MWAA's recent decision to place the airport station (set to open in 2016) underground could raise costs of Phase 2 by more than $300 million.

Fox 5 reports that a consultant says adding tolls to the airport - currently only motorists on the access roles pay a fee - could be a solution. Another idea: a departure tax upon leaving the airport.

This is currently just an idea. Any proposal would have to go before the MWAA board and through a public hearing.
