Weekend Pick: Herndon Labor Day Festival
Herndon's Labor Day Festival will feature music, food and crafts.
The Herndon Labor Day Festival is coming up Sept. 3 and will feature music, crafts, food, wine, microbrews an more.
The annual festival began as a wine and jazz festival but has branched into wider genres of music as well as food. The event takes place in downtown Herndon from noon to 6 p.m. Wine and beer tastings and selling of open containers ends at 5 p.m.
Admission to the festival is $20 , which includes wine and beer tastings ($10 without wine and beer tastings). Extra beer tickets may be purchased for $1 each and children 12 years old and under are free. Wine vendors will be located along Lynn Street, while beer vendors will be on the town green.
Bands will play throughout the event on the Herndon Municipal Center Stage for those gathered on the town green. Chelsea Lea will perform from noon to 1 p.m.; The Alternate Routes will perform from 1:30-2:30 p.m.; Junior Doctor will perform from 3-4 p.m.; and 42: Coldplay Tribute will perform from 4:30-6 p.m.
This year's event will also include a culinary showcase sponsored by Cookology and featuring demonstrations by Chef Mark Chang. A number of craft vendors will be showcasing everything from jewelry to woodworks to cheese, candles, goblets and glasses and fine art.
