Two Die in Parkway Crash Near Wiehle Avenue

Police investigating case that killed two taxi passengers early Saturday.

Two people are dead after a crash on the Fairfax County Parkway near Wiehle Avenue in Reston early Saturday.

Fairfax County Police said a man drove from the southbound into the northbound lanes near Wiehle Avenue around 1:45 a.m. and struck a taxi cab head on.

Both passengers in the taxi, men ages 29 and 34, died on scene. The suspect driver, 24, and taxi cab driver, 47, were transported to a hospital and are in serious condition.

Detectives are investigating whether speed and alcohol may be factors involving the at-fault driver of the crash and two counts of aggravated involuntary manslaughter charges are pending, police said.

Police have not yet released the identities of the passengers pending notification to next of kin.

The southbound lanes of the Fairfax County Parkway have been re-opened as of Saturday morning. However the northbound may be closed for the ongoing investigation.
