SLHS to Host Madison in Homecoming Game
Seahawks still looking for first Liberty District victory.
The South Lakes Seahawks are hoping the energy of a homecoming game crowd will help them Friday as they continue to seek their first Liberty District victory of the season.
The Seahawks (2-4 overall, 0-3 Liberty) host the Madison Warhawks (5-1, 3-0 Liberty) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.
Given the Warhawks' record, it will be a tough task. Madison fell to Oakton in the season opener Aug. 31, but has won every game since. Madison is led offensively by quarterback Dan Powers, who has thrown for 733 yards and 7 touchdowns this season.
South Lakes is coming off of a 5-0 loss at McLean last week. Neither team scored a touchdown in that meeting. McLean's points came from a safety and a 26-yard field goal.
In last year's meeting, South Lakes narrowly missed upsetting the Warhawks. South Lakes had a slim second-half lead, but two field goals - including one with 14-second left in the game - sealed the victory for Madison.
