South Lakes High School cheerleaders finished fourth at the Northern Region Semifinals Saturday, earning a trip to the regional finals later this week.
It is the first time in school history the squad has made it to the regional finals, says SLHS cheerleading coach Becky Slaight.
The regional finals are at Fairfax High on Nov. 5 at 5 p.m.
Volleyball - The varsity team is 15-10 heading into its final regular-season match of 2011 against McLean on Monday.
South Lakes is coming off a two-game losing skid, falling 3-0 to James Madison and McLean last week.
The Liberty District Semifinals begin Tuesday at Stone Bridge High.
