Still time to vote for Rivals

Who has the best cupcakes?

Who has the best cupcakes in Reston? We need your help to find out.

This is the debut of a new feature called "Rivals" where Reston Patch asks readers to visit our directory section and write their thoughts on which they like best.

You don't have to be a professional critic, just jot down a few thoughts on what you like (or don't like) about the selected places.

Here is how to play:

1 Create a free Patch login if you don't already have one.

2. Visit the pages in our Places directory. This week's entries: Edibles Incredible,  "The CupCake Ladi" and Red Velvet. (click the links to take you right there).

Write a review at the bottom of the page where prompted. What makes it your favorite? Frosting vs. Cake ratio? Flavor choices? Artistry?

3. The place with the most reviews by Sunday, July 17 will be declared the winner, and one winner will be chosen at random as the Rivals reviewer of the day. Click here for Patch contest rules terms of service.

4. Cupcakes not your thing? Check back soon. We'll be holding regular contests for Rivals reviews of other categories.

Thanks for playing!

Are we limited to these two? You can get an awesome cupcake from "The CupCake Ladi" at Lake Anne Plaza and its organic!

The "rivals" use organic ingredients too. :)

For now, we're just doing these two. We'll work Cupckae ladi into the mix next time around.

Oh I don't know. I think the Cupcake Ladi could be a good "write in" candidate!

The Cupcake Ladi at Lake Anne Plaza is unique decadence from first frosting lick to last coaxed, pinky figured crumb. All organic as well as the fresh, locally grown gelato! Absolutely nothing compares. Extra bonus: a little NYC in old VA - no compromises with a heart of gold. Here the tastes are as generous as the frequent owner inspired philanthropy.

Thanks for the thoughts, but this particular contest is limited to the two stores chosen by our ad staff.

While I appreciate the sentiments for the CupCake Ladi, this particular contest is for the town center. We will include the Cupcake Ladi at a later date. So, we're not doing a write in candidate. To participate in the contest, you must leave review comments on the Places pages for the two stores listed. Thanks.

I have been to Red Velvet cupcake once. And I had... a red velvet cupcake. My biggest disappointment was that they don't serve coffee. I really like coffee with my cupcakes and I was kind of shocked. I think the cupcake was fine, but I remember the lack of coffee more than the taste of the cupcake.

Out of the two, I would go with Red Velvet, however I really don't think they are that great.

I have been twice to Red Velvets and both times, I was left unimpressed. Actually, once the bottom was burnt and the other time the icing was just so so. For about $3.25/cupcake, I should be blown away and I wasn't.

Edibles Incredible's cupcakes are alright, but not great. They have added too many flavors and their quality has diluted.

The one other cupcake at the Reston Town Center is at the Community Canteen. They have mini-cupcakes that are awesome. They spend a considerable amount of time on their desserts and those really are worth checking out.

Good luck with your vote and for me mark me down for Red Velvet.

P.S. I am interested in checking out the Cupcake Ladi as well.

Frankly, I think the Cupcake Lady should get the $50. She got more write ins than the two others...

"The cupcake Ladi" product is the best... It is rich, always teast good and !!! organic!!!, i cant explain - just so perfect. When you eating her cupcakes, you not thinking about stuff like: "too sweet", "where is the creem?" "could hey use better quality of chocolate for this cupcake", "the bread is like a plasticine" and so and so. Fantastic cupcakes made with love... My VOTE - "The Cupcake Ladi"

I have had cupcakes at all three locations. "The cupCake Ladi" is by far the best. The frosting is cream cheese and the product is made with organic ingredients. CCL cupcakes are by far the best and freshest cupcakes I have ever tasted. there are many flavors with interesting names. CCL allowed me to sample not only her cupcakes but her delicious gelato. The other two stores do not come close to her. I recommend everyone try CCL cupcakes, you will be pleased and have a good time as well.

For a number of reasons, Red Velvet is the best everything. No contest they have the best cupcakes in existence, but it's not just that that makes them incredible. They have the funnest people working there. You can truly tell that they're having a good time, and if you're not as well, then you're not human. You're some sort of space robot, who has been sent from the future to be boring as hell, and hate awesome things. In conclusion, Red Velvet.

Hands down - the CupCake Ladi has the best cupcakes! This is not even a competition with the CupCake Ladi involved. She wins and you should go down to Lake Anne and treat yourself to the best cupcake you'll ever have!!

Red Velvet for sure. I think they have the best carrot cake cupcake around. Their frosting is also very unique and quite tasty. My vote goes to Red Velvet

My vote is definitely for Red Velvet! They've got a great selection and new flavors every week! The cookies and cream is my favorite - so moist! Yum!

Red velvet is definitely the best! The flavors they have every day are phenomenal, and the featured flavors they have always keep things fresh, not to mention their red velvet cupcake is absolutely divine!

Red Velvet for sure. The feature flavors are always creative and delicious. They also bake all day which is fantastic because that means they are fresh all day.

Red Velvet is THE BEST!
I don't know what you people are talking about. They are allways perfect! Never dry. They do NOT use confectionary sugar that you can crunch on like these other two places. And they use 83% European butter.....yeah...I asked : ) They are just plain THE BEST! I will never need to bake cupcakes for my kids again. : )
