Rivals: Reston's Best Chinese Food
Where is your favorite spot for egg rolls, kung pao and wonton soup?
It't time for another intsallment of Reston Rivals. This time: Chinese food.
Now, we know Chinese food can be a subjective choice - one man's favorite lo mein is another man's pile of squishy noodles. But chime in with a mini review of your favorite Reston Chinese restaurant, and you will be helping fellow seekers of fried rice perfection.
Contestants are: China Star, Mama Wok, Lakeside Asia , Hunan Cafe and Great China. (if we forgot one, tell us, or find that store's listing in our directory and add a review there).
How to play:
1. Click on the blue link to your pick (above). That will take you to the Reston Patch directory listing.
2. At the bottom of the listing, write your mini review. What's your fave dish? Why is this your go-to place for Chinese?
3. The restaurant with the most reviews by Monday. Oct. 17 at noon is the winner. A reviewer will be drawn at random from the winning listing.
4. Grand prize: A gift card to a Reston establishment.

Please add Hunan Cafe VII at Hunters Woods Shopping Center. The crispy beef is great.

HunanCAfe hands down. Our staff orders there at least once a week, never disappointed.

Mama Wok is a favorite restaurant of choice in Reston for my office, China Telecom Americas. I especially like the minced pork with leeks as well as the sizzling beef.

I think the best chinese food comes from the takeout place Mandarin (Home Depot shopping center)(not to be confused with the pretty good House of Mandarin on Soapstone). The food at mandarin tastes fresh and is always perfectly cooked. I've been to Mama Wok and nearly died of salt poisoning. China Star was pretty good several years ago, but quality has gone done in the last few years. Hunan and Great China are okay, but nothing special.

Hunan Cafe is good, especially the Green Beans with Beef and the Chicken Chow Mein (even if there's little to Mein, which is fine by me). Still, when it comes right down to it, I go more often to China King. The food is equally tasty but less pricey.
