Reston: The Coffee

You know you want a cup of Lake Anne Blend.

Over the years, people have tried to capture the essence of Reston in books, in theater (see last year's , and in pictures.

Now comes a New Town in a cup. Reston Roast, a coffee produced by Mountain Boys Coffee of Nitro, WV, in conjunction with the folks at Reston Museum & Historic Trust.

Mountain Boys has produced two types of coffee for Reston, says Reston Historic Trust vice chair Cheryl Terio, who headed the project. There is Lake Anne Blend, which uses five types of beans to make a rich Italian/French roast type coffee.

"Like Lake Anne Village Center, this dark roast is European in style and diversity," the label states.

There is also Sumatra blend. "Strolling in the deep shade and quiet natural habitat of the Glade stream valley is a perfect way to savor Reston Roast Sumatra."

"We are very excited about the coffee," said Terio. "A group of us taste-tested them."

Reston Roast is certified Fair Trade and is USDA-certified organic, Terio said. It comes in 4.5-ounce packages ($6.25) or 10-ounce packages ($11.45). The coffee is only available at the or for order on its website.

Some of the proceeds will go to the Reston Historic Trust.
