Reston's Midtown Condos Evacuated Monday

As generator runs out of fuel, management closing building at Reston Town Center.

The emergency generator had given the building limited power use and operated the elevator, but now Midtown is on the waiting list for additional fuel, building management said.

Only about 10 percent of the building's nearly 300 units were occupied Monday as most residents left on Saturday to stay at hotels or with relatives who had power.

Management was planning on going door-to-door Monday to make sure everyone was out of the building by noon.

Reston Town Center management said on Sunday the power outage was the longest in the center's 21-year history.
