Reston Man Dies of Injuries from Car Crash

Frederick Naef, 76, was injured in Dec. 26 accident near McLean.

A Reston man died on Saturday from injuries received in a Dec. 26 accident on Lee Highway.

Frederick Naef, 76, of Reston, was driving his 2010 Ford Taurus about 9:30 a.m. on Dec. 26 westbound on Lee Highway approaching Old Lee Highway.

The driver of a 2001 Ford Ranger, Carlos Rios, 42, of Fairfax, lost control of his vehicle and crossed into eastbound traffic on Lee Highway.

Rios struck Naef's car, as well as a 2008 GMC Yukon, driven by a 41-year-old man.

Naef was transported to a local hospital. Rios was charged with failing to maintain control of his vehicle.

Speed and alcohol are not considered factors in the crash.
