Reston Citizens Association Opens Its Election Season

Voting period goes through July 10.

Reston Citizens Association (RCA) opened its 2011 election season on Monday, the deadline for prospective board members to file as a candidate for an open seat.

Colin Mills, a 32-year Reston resident, is seeking the position of President of the RCA to replace Ms. Marion Stillson, who has decided not to seek re-election. 

Tammi Petrine, a 35-year Reston resident, and C.J. Basik, an 18-year Reston resident, are running for the two open At-Large Director seats.

Also running: John Hanley, a 15-year Reston resident, for the Hunters Woods District Director seat, Gary N. Walker, 17-year Reston resident, for the Lake Anne/Town Center/Tall Oaks District Director seat; Debra Eastham,  11-year Reston resident, for the North Point District Director seat; and Diane M. Lewis, 30-year Reston resident, for the South Lakes District Director seat. 

 RCA is holding its annual elections between June 27, 2011 and July 10,  and all Reston residents who are over the age of 16 are eligible to vote in the elections to the board and for president.

The RCA Election Committee will establish a voting booth at the Reston Festival at Reston Town Center on  July 9 and 10, 2011.  Voters may also send in their ballot forms by mail to RCA, PO Box 2851, Reston, VA 20195 to arrive no later than July 9.

The results of the elections will be announced on July 11.
