Police: Dead Woman Found at Reston Fire

Fairfax County Police and the Fairfax County Fire Marshal are investigating a homicide in the 12000 block of Waterside View Dr. in Reston.

The fire department was called to the Waterside Apartments at 6:15 a.m Monday when a neighbor reported smoke, Fairfax County Police spokeswoman Shelley Broderick said.

Firefighters forced their way into the apartment, where they discovered a dead adult woman, Broderick said. Police said she died of apparent trauma to the upper body.

"The incident is being investigated as a homicide," Broderick said. 

Police have not yet identified the victim. They also did not say in which room she was found and whether there are any suspects.

The fire was contained to one room, Deputy Chief Fire Marshal Mike Reilly said.
